Boys of Summer book Entry #41

Park Number Three (of 30) at Ameriquest Field

Texas 3, Houston 1
WP K. Rogers (10-2), LP W. Miller (7-7)

A conversation after the game between Bob & Dan:

Bob:
Having Evan (a three year-old boy who was part of our local group took to me and hung out with me for most of the game) around reminded me of a part of what we’re talking about and exploring on this trip, which is fathers and sons. We see him there and it’s another level of the really beautiful exchange between father and son. There was a moment out here tonight, after the game, where another friend of ours was playing guitar, and he played a father and son song.

Dad:
Mitch played a beautiful song. It was very appropriate.

Bob:
And there was a moment where you reached over, during the song, and gave me a little reassuring tap. It was as if you were saying, that’s us. It meant a lot to me.

Dad:
Yeah, me too.

Bob:
It’s interesting, we think about the game, we think about being rushed -- this ballpark is beautiful. I wish we had two or three days at each park because, except for Minute Maid where we had the two and the tour, there’s a feeling of being rushed. What I’m learning is this experience is about what it needs to be about and baseball is certainly part of it, but it’s also about meeting people.

Dad:
And we’re doing a lot of that. It’s quite varied at every location. We had some very special people here tonight -- one fellow Parkinsonian and another person that’s very involved in the process. We met some very nice people tonight. We would have liked it to have been a bigger turnout tonight, but it was good. The quality was there.

Bob:
I’m happy to be here tonight. Happy to have a comfortable place to stay at sis’.

Dad:
Looking forward to a good night’s sleep.

Other Highlights: This Texas team looks good -- too good for my AL West taste. Kenny Roasters Rogers can’t keep up this pace -- can he? Nah. The Rangers WILL el foldo in August as per usual.

A’s lose 6-4 to Giants
